Frequently Asked Questions

MATERIAL

1. I leave my hammock outdoors, what material do you recommend?

If you plan to hang your hammock between two trees we recommend you to buy a Nylon Hammock plus an Outdoor Mexican Hammock Protector. Other options are our Thick String Cotton Hammock or our Hemp Mexican Hammocks

If you plan to hang your hammock on the side of your patio we recommend you to buy a Thick String Cotton hammock, a Nylon Hammock or a Regular cotton hammock with an Outdoor Mexican Hammock Protector

If you plan to hang your hammock indoors or undercover we recommend you to buy a regular Cotton Hammock.

2. How is the softness of hemp against the skin compared with cotton? Softer, same, rougher?

Hemp hammocks at the beginning are rough, but with use they get as soft as cotton. They get very soft and they have the advantage that they last longer than cotton

3. How thick is the hemp string used in the hammocks? The same as cotton, thicker or thinner? About 1 millimetre diameter?

It is about the same thickness as our Nylon and Cotton Hammocks

4.- Are Nylon hammocks sweaty?

No they are not, people in Mexico sleep all night in Nylon Mexican Hammocks or in Cotton Mexican Hammocks, doesn't matter. This is because their  diamond-like threading allow the circulation of air.

5. What is the weight of the hemp hammock compared to the cotton of the same size?

A single size Hemp hammock, weights around 1.3 kilograms and a Single Size Cotton or Nylon Hammock weights around 800 grams.

A King size Hemp Hammock weights around 1.8 kilograms and a king size Cotton or Nylon hammock weights around 1.3 kilograms

6. Does the hemp hammock come in different colours?
No, our hemp hammocks come only in Natural colour

7. What is the difference between a spread bar hammock and a hammock without a bar?

A spread bar hammock is known as an American style hammock. A hammock without a bar is a typical Mexican hammock. This is our specialty. It was designed in Mexico and they are considered the most comfortable hammocks in the world by customers. Chiropractors and Orthopaedists recommend them for people with back problems.

HANGING DISTANCES

8. What is the length of the smaller hammocks in Cotton, Nylon and hemp?

Because all hammocks are different and are made by different artesian doesn't exist a fix
ed length per size of hammock, but if you go to all our hammock descriptions you will find the average length for each size and material.

9.- What is the recommended distance to hang a hammock?

We recommend that the centre of the hammock when pressed down is between 30 to 45 cms from the ground. High enough for your feet to touch the ground when you sit on the side of the hammock with your legs overhanging the side.

EXPORTING OVERSEAS

10.- Do you export?

We do export, to almost any country, please ask for details. We have two points of sale. Our main warehouse in Mexico and our shop here in Australia.

MISCELLANEOUS

11.- Are the hammocks colourfast?

No they are not, but when you wash them please DO NOT use bleach, only use washing soap or a softener

12.- Which hammocks are best for sleeping in?

All our hammocks are good for sleeping in, but we recommend our King Size in Cotton, Nylon or Hemp or our Jumbo Family Size if you want to use them as your bed. All our Mexican Hammocks demonstrates the highest level of weight distribution possible--weightlessness or "zero gravity".  Every Mexican Hammock  eliminates any pressure points on your body. They actually contour to your body's natural shape.

13 .- How long will my Hammock last?

There are a variety of factors that can impact the life of a hammock, which makes it quite difficult to determine how long a hammock should last. Environmental factors including UV damage, sea salt, rain, and overall climate can have severe effects on a hammock. These are also factors to consider when selecting what kind of hammock to purchase, however given proper care, any hammock can provide enjoyment for many years. Following simple steps such as proper cleaning, appropriate use, and suitable storage when the hammock is not in use can prolong your hammocks life. The best suggestion we can offer is to follow the instructions sent with your Mexican Hammock

14.- Is there a place I can see these stands and hammocks before I buy one.( I have bought a stand before which was very unstable.

Please contact our retailers or visit our office if you would like to see the hammocks and stands before you purchase them. We use the Adjustable Hammock Frame for to hang our hammock and we think that is very stable.

15.- I want a hammock with the colours of my choice, can you make it?

We certainly can make any colour combination, but we need about 1 month and a half to organize your special order plus shipping from Mexico for a single hammock will increase the cost of the hammock. Please ask us for details.

16.-What is the difference between a spread bar hammock and a hammock without a bar?

A spread bar hammock is known as an American style hammock. It is a very decorative hammock because of its beauty and size. Strongly recommended for gardens and terraces.
A hammock without a bar is a typical Mayan hammock. This is our specialty. It was designed 3000 years ago by the Mayan Indians and it is considered the most comfortable hammock in the world by customers. Chiropractors and Orthopaedists recommend it for people with back problems.
